What tours do you actually run?

Four regulars: the Al Fahidi heritage walk, the abra and souk crossing, the sunset dhow cruise, and a morning photography walk through the old quarter. Everything is on foot or on the water along Dubai Creek — we are not a desert safari or a bus operator. Private versions of all four can be arranged for families and corporate groups.

How much does each tour cost?

The heritage walk is AED 180 per adult for two hours, the abra and souk crossing is AED 140 for ninety minutes, and the photography walk is AED 260 for three hours. The sunset dhow cruise is AED 220 per person, or AED 320 with the set dinner. Children between 6 and 12 are half price on the walks and AED 120 on the dhow.

How large are the groups?

Scheduled walks cap at twelve guests and the dhow at twenty-four, because both stop being enjoyable above that. If you are a group of eight or more we will usually suggest a private departure instead, which costs about the same per head and lets you set the start time.

Where do the tours start and can you pick me up?

All walking tours meet at the Al Fahidi Historical Neighbourhood entrance next to the Coffee Museum, and the dhow boards at Deira Old Souk Abra Station. We do not run a shuttle, but for private bookings we can add hotel pickup within Bur Dubai, Deira and Downtown for AED 150 each way for up to six people.

Can I book a private tour and how do I get a price?

Yes. Tell me the date, how many guests, and whether you want a walk, the dhow or a combined full day, and I will put together a quote. A private heritage walk for up to four guests is AED 1,400, and a full-day private itinerary with the dhow is AED 2,600 for up to six. Larger groups and corporate itineraries are priced individually.

What time do the scheduled tours run?

The photography walk goes at 7:30am, the heritage walk at 10:00am and again at 4:30pm, the abra crossing at 11:30am and 5:00pm, and the dhow boards at 6:15pm for a 6:45pm departure. Between June and September the daytime walks move to 8:00am only, because the afternoon heat makes them miserable.

What should I wear and bring?

Closed walking shoes, a hat and water — the walks cover about two and a half kilometres on uneven stone. Shoulders and knees covered is expected around the mosque and heritage houses, for everyone. We hand out chilled water on every departure and there is a shaded rest stop halfway.

What is your cancellation policy?

Cancel more than 24 hours before departure and you get a full refund. Inside 24 hours we hold the payment as a credit valid for six months rather than refunding it. If we cancel for weather or a boat issue, you choose between a full refund and a rebooked date.

Are the tours suitable for children or wheelchair users?

Children from about six upward do well on the walks and any age is fine on the dhow with a parent. The Al Fahidi lanes are uneven stone with some steps, so they are not comfortable in a wheelchair. The abra crossing and dhow cruise are the accessible options and we will arrange step-free boarding if you tell us in advance.
